Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect in the first (therapy) session?

During onboarding, I’ll have you fill out an intake form along with consents to establish a solid foundation of information and trust. For me, a first session feels like stepping into an unlit room, and I ask a variety of questions that will help us illuminate your emotional, mental, social, and physical landscape. Together, we’ll explore your challenges and your wishes. Throughout this process, I will be crafting a mental map to guide us towards where you aspire to be. At the end, I will share practical steps and approaches that I perceive is the path forward, with a flexibility to adjust along the way. In following sessions, I hold the vision as my guiding force and meet whatever is coming up with importance. Any ‘bump’ in the road, is a pivotal part of the journey and are often the biggest break throughs.

How did you determine the cost?

Sessions offer a unique opportunity for emotional openness and deep attunement. I apply various techniques to prepare for these sessions. Then, following a session, I document insights in chart notes and complete administrative tasks like submitting to insurances. As therapists/practitioners, we also manage overhead fees that support essential services, including using confidential databases (Jane App), marketing efforts, connecting with referral sources, maintaining professional insurance, and fulfilling licensing costs (therapy), all while considering tax implications, etc. I wish to share this background information for more context of what your money is going towards as I believe that is very important.

How to choose the right therapist for me?

First and foremost, I find an important quality is ensuring that they are committed to understanding you and that this is their main priority. Feeling seen and heard is essential. You can also research different modalities to see what one matches what you are looking for. Also, you can explore and have consultations with various practitioners to see what personality feels most comforting to you. I am someone who is quite to the point and insightful but also soft in holding emotional responses, all while incorporating humor to make it all not so heavy to bear. I’d say my attunement and ability to meet you with what is coming up in the moment is a serious strength of mine. If that seems like something you are needing, feel free to book a free consultation before committing to a session!

What is your cancellation policy?

My cancellation policy requires a 48-hour notice to cancel without payment. If you need to cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled session, you will be billed 50% of the session fee. However, if you are a trusted client and able to reschedule within the same work week, then fees are waived.

Policies like these help protect our working time as practitioners, while also solidifying genuine interest and commitment from those who we work for.

What is your approach like?

I would say sessions with me are to the point as I am someone committed to truth and honesty. Genuine reflections will be given so we can change our awareness and learn our own personal truths to set us free in life. But I also hold emotions softly, knowing that navigating emotional awareness can be extremely painful, holding your hand and guiding you through it, to a better feeling state of being.

Methods used include: Parts Work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Core Belief Work, Somatic Experiencing, and Attachment Theory. Along with various awareness building exercises and activities.

How is confidentiality maintained? Is there any reason it would be broken?

Confidentiality is a priority. Your identifying information will not be shared without written consent. With your approval, I can consult with other health care providers or healing practitioners if it benefits your circle of care. As therapists we do partake in supervision, whether that is with peers or someone who we hire to provide supervision. All information shared in any form of supervision will not include identifying information but will be for informative purpose to improve our services. All notes and identifiable data will be securely stored in a PHIPPA-approved online database (Jane App). If you have concerns about the confidentiality of your email, text messages, or voicemails, please let me know. We use these for appointment reminders. If that is unsafe for you, we will establish the most suitable form of communication for you.

Confidentiality may only be breached without your consent in the event of significant concerns regarding the harm to yourself or others. Such circumstances would necessitate the involvement of emergency services and the support of other healtcare professionals.

What are your qualifications and/or experience?

I am a Registered Social Worker in Ontario, Canada. I have completed both of my Bachelors and Masters of Social Work. I have completed various trainings in modalities like EFT, Parts Work, Inner Child Work, DBT, and somatic methods. And have been legally allowed to provide therapy since 2020.

I have worked in various environments such as nonprofit organizations like Children’s Mental Health in an intensive live-in treatment center in addition to working within the youth court system. I then branched out into working with others’ private practices in Ontario and even Salt Lake City, Utah, exposing me to various lifestyles, backgrounds, and cultural norms. I have worked within family systems, couples counseling, custodial court systems, and much more. I have also offered emotional coaching internationally for the past four years.

My services, which I am thrilled to offer, reflect my passion and expertise, showcasing the valuable experiences I have gathered along the way.

Will my insurance cover sessions?

As a Registered Social Worker, the majority, if not all, insurances will cover therapy sessions for Ontario residents. Direct billing will be available for most insurances.

Insurance will not cover non-therapy services.

The impacts of therapy/healing services: things to know about.

Something I find truly important to share is that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It offers us a safe space to process our feelings and cultivate the confidence we need to explore our desires while navigating through challenges. However, embarking on this journey requires both readiness and courage to take those meaningful steps, embrace change, and pursue what truly speaks to our hearts.

Sometimes we may not feel ready to face certain changes, and that is completely understandable. It’s important to recognize that we can navigate any hesitancies together. I believe it’s crucial for individuals entering sessions to be mindful of this, as gaining awareness of one’s situation without a readiness to embrace change can lead to increased discomfort. My utmost intention is to support you in the most conducive way possible.
